Sears Roebuck Shotgun Serial Numbers

  1. Sears And Roebuck 12 Gauge

And I know that that is true, as I'd gone with my grandfather more than once, and because I know that he always really liked me, and enjoyed joking with me and spending time with me. It's neither here nor there, but I'd been commissioned at twelve years of age to work alongside my grandfather, working for my father as we both did, mostly to ensure that he was okay and not getting too hot in the Texas sun, as we wired most every home standing in the city of Crandall, Texas, which is now, not surprisingly, prime and high-dollar real estate. My particular Sears and Roebuck single shot twenty gauge shotgun is a full-choke model shotgun. If you do NOT know what that means, then I'll tell you, it simply means that the barrel of the gun is longer, and that this feature ensures that the shotgun pellets, or buckshot, or even a slug, will fire more accurately at a target in the distance, or further away.

This is why they bring less that the parent models at sale time, they are still Winchesters except in finish and name. Hope that helps. I appreciate the help so the TW300 was only made from 1964-68 that pretty much narrows that. The TW200 from what I have been reading around was made from like you stated 1964 until 1978 with Ted Williams name on it. Others state they sold about 82,000 a year so by that if true my two TW200's were made in 1967-68. Which would match the story by the sellers which tie them to the mid sixties. But Stoney seemed to know how to date the TW's by barrel code which would be the first person I have run across with that level of expertise on TW's.

Hi guys, I’d like to know the age and value of this Sears.30-06 Rifle. The serial number is: U140513. It has a Redfield 4X scope on it.

The rollmark does not appear to refer directly to the date of manufacture, but rather to the particular lot of guns that was shipped to sears. Each mass order shipped seems to have been assigned a single number. For example, the first 3 digits (583) identify the manufacturer as high standard.

I stripped it down and he scrubbed it clean. I ironed out the wood and oiled it then soaked it in hot water and took 600 wet/ dry to it then oiled it. It came out to be a nice shotgun. Action was smooth as silk. Lirik lagu tawa canda matirasa download. Any info would be appreciated. Ill post pics when he sends them.

More's the pity. I've been worried about it some, Randy, as I'm forever being stalked and reported in the forums by THIS PERSON.who is so obviously a paid propaganda person in these forums that it's pathetic. I recall you once calling out someone as that exact thing, I laughed, and applauded that comment! Thing is, if they're banning people from the site for little things like too many grammar errors.I'm worried that they're becoming overly censorship prone, and may ban someone like yourself or me for too many forum bans. HELL YEAH RANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY SMOKES THERE'S SOME BAD WRITING ON THIS ONE (takes caps lock off) - it's really old, and I've got lots of old ones that need some dusting off like you're old single shot shotgun.

Made my Marlin Firearms. Copy of Marlin model 100. Higgins Model 103.228 bolt action with removable 7rd magazine. Receiver grooves for Scope mounting.

I just don't see the point of giving up on equipment that still works just because it's old. Info on moderated group rec.guns is at Gary Napolitano 18/8/1998, 0:00 น. Yes, I have a 95%+ Antonio Zoli O/U 12g, double triggers, standard engraving with the full name engraved on it. It did originally come from Sears, I believe a model 281. Don't know how to date the gun but Sears # conversion charts puts my shotgun at @$1200.00 today. Just because it was sold by Sears does not mean guns are worth less. Their higher end shotguns from late 50's to mid 70's could very well be underrated.

Thanks for the help everyone! I'm not StoneChimney but I hope you don't mind if I post some information StoneChimney hasn't posted for quite a while and it is a loss for the forum. He was knowledgeable and his replies were a valuable asset. Any how, your TW 300 is a Winchester 1400 and was made from 1964 and 1968, your TW 200 is a Winchester 1200 and was sold by Sears, from 1964 until 1988, it is still in production. I can find neither model on the different serial number charts that are available to me., perhaps because they are modern firearms and not considered collectible such as the old Winchester Lever Actions and pre 64 models.

It also means that should you NOT be shooting a shotgun shell with a slug—meaning that you are firing a traditional shotgun shell burst—then the pellets within the shotgun shell will hold a tighter pattern for a longer distance than they would with any other configuration of shotgun barrel. A 'Full Choke' then, is preferable for hunting duck, pheasants, deer, or any game that is typically fired upon from a larger distance.

Higgins in 1962 as I have a few of the J.C. Higgins Model 66 Shotguns which are High Standard C-1200's one with Barrel code 'FC' which would be 06/57 and my other Model 66 whose adjustable choke is similar to my TW 200/300's and Model 75 yet has no barrel code but I traced the model number to 1962 probably the end of the J.C Higgins run and the Ted Williams startup. Higgins 66 started production in 1955 which would be the letter 'A' in my theory. Once again all speculation. Last edited by box20022; at 12:25 AM. To close out my Sears Ted Williams Barrel code theory.

I know they started making over and unders with double triggers sometimes in the sixties.thank you very much johnny joyner owlprey2005@yahoo.com. Update: this is about the laurona again. It is stamped on reciever that dana internationl shipped the gun in.

I have been trying to date the serial numbers and two letter barrel codes to the year of MFG. I have come up with a hypothesis on the two letter barrel codes starting with sales in 1964 of the Ted Williams 200 and 300 shotguns. With 1964 the last letter being J for 1964, K for 1965 and alphabetically through X being 1978 the last year of Ted Williams 200/300 production. I believe in 1968 a Q was placed on in front of the Serial numbers for the 300 and for the 200 a letter P. I have kept a loose collection of serial numbers and barrel codes from various gun auction sites and my hypothesis seems to be correct.

Please feel free to add or correct any information or data that I have placed. Have a great Thanksgiving, and Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Happy New Year!! I think the store brands are a great way to get solid field guns for half - or less - price of the name brand. I have several Stevens pump shotguns sold by Sears (JC Higgins) and Wards (Western Field) that are essentially Stevens 520-30 and 620A.

I've ALWAYS had them respond to me after the second try anyway. I didn't even ask why I was banned this go round.I truly don't see what I could have said to get a ban.but they did tell me which forum post was the issue. What I'm thinking is that maybe we should just BOYCOTT THE FORUMS! I mean, REFUSE to participate in the forums. I don't know if that would hurt or help, but if enough of us stop messing about there, and set up a group on Facebook or Google + or something to discuss shit, it would get noticed:-/ I shouldn't ever mess about in those damned forums anyway. If they aren't talking about the business end of this online writing gig, then.what I'm doing is wasting time that I should have spent on either reading or writing someone's hub, IMO.

The Marlin model 90 was manufactured between 1937 & 1963. They were initially made for Sears Roebuck and were marked 'Ranger' before WWll and 'J.C. Higgins' after the war. Guns made prior to 1949 had a space between the barrels and were solid after that.

What does the VC and CR code stamped on the barrel by the trademark indicate? Where do you find the barrel number? There are 2 circles, one the barrel and on on top of teh receiver that have the letters SP inside. What is that?

This is why they bring less that the parent models at sale time, they are still Winchesters except in finish and name. Hope that helps. Click to expand. Stoney stated that there was no way for him to date Model 200s and 300s. But from information from many sites like this and tracking auctions, and stories of original owners who remembered the year of purchase I can pretty much get close on the TW200's, The ones I have with 295xxx & 296xxx are manufactured in 1967. One other thing I have learned is that the first year 1964 model barrel was inscribed with just a print type Ted Williams instead of a signature and maybe 1965. I will just keep watching auctions and learn.

This gun was better than excelent, it had never been fired, but for a year I couldn't get anybody to narrow it down. After all this time, I registared on this sight to get some advise. While I was waiting to be ok'ed so I could post, a gunsmith called that had a collection of guns made for Sears.

Ted

I'm trying to find a replacement stock for it. I'd also love to find a Ted Williams brown recoil pad for it as the original was hacked to fit the shorter stock. I'll probably just order a Pachmayr pad if I can find a new stock. This gun has only been shot a few times since I've owned it. It has a few rust spots on the choke and some small one on the underside of the barrel, so I'll probably spot-blue it.

Someone had given him my number. He was amazed of the condition of the gun.

What is that? Someone on one of these boards stated (I cannot verify) that a national skeet record was set with a Ted Williams 200 or 300. As for the surface rust on your barrel use 0000 fine steel wool and a good gun oil to remove the rust. I would shoot skeet with a Model 300 they have good balance.

Another great shotgun that I own is the Sears twenty-gauge single-shot shotgun. Mine once belonged to my grandfather, William Thomas Shaw, and now it is mine, as he has passed on. This gun is VERY similar in every way to my Harrington and Richardson single-shot twenty gauge shotgun that I purchased at twelve years of age from the Walmart in Terrell, Texas for $65.00.
