Volume should be sufficient for general use but the maximum level did fall just a little short of our expectations. In contrast, we were thoroughly impressed with the low latency experienced while recording at the interfaces limit of 24-bit/96 kHz. In use we appreciated the flexibility of the Audio 6’s routing options and would similarly expect DJs to derive value from the headphone source selection switch and ability to have main outs with a separate controllable monitor mix. Verdict The inclusion of four ins and outs plus MIDI in and out combined with the impressive design, rugged construction and solid performance make this a top contender in this price range. The Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 is a USB audio interface which has a total of 6 inputs and 6 outputs. Did you try with the power plugged in to your new laptop as well? Doubt it will make much difference though as you have done quite a lot of testing, thanks for the updates. No trouble on giving help, I know how frustrating it is when you get new toys and hardware and they don't work. Anyway, better to be safe than sorry: ask NI for a replacement as it clearly doesn't work as advertised and hopefully the new one will be better. If the replacement doesn't work, it's refund time.

The preamps are loud and the self-noise is low. You can get professional sounding recordings from this unit with very little work if you have a good mic and your room is setup well. I rarely experience any crackling or popping when using the unit. On occasion it produces pops and clicks when I use it for playing back media in VLC or Windows Media Player but never when recording in REAPER.
Robert_e_bone I run with: Sample Rate = 48 k, record bit-depth of 24-bits, ASIO Buffer Size of 128, and I get a Total Roundtrip Latency of just under 10 milliseconds, AND more importantly - no dropouts/crackles/lag. Since I did see from your content a test where you precisely matched my settings and then posted the Total Roundtrip Latency value on your system while running at those settings, I still politely ask you to run this exact test and then post back the precise results for that test, along with the Total Roundtrip Latency when running with these settings. Please please please run this test. OK, I tested 48000 at 128 and get a round trip latency of 7ms. I think I am satisfied with the latency. It's the random pops that I can't seem to get rid of.
The drivers are rock solid in that respect and they are constantly adding updates to address issues that may be present in the user forums. There is one issue I can say the devise has running under windows 8. There is a minimal amount of crackling when using applications like flash player, WMP, Quick time and other normal audio applications. It is annoying but minimal and only in non ASIO audio applications. There is a fix in the works but not available as of yet. GETTING STARTED This devise is a snap to get started with.

This is a freeware application that you would run with Sonar not running, that would measure and report on your computer's basic ability to handle audio streaming applications, such as Sonar. Yes I ran this for 20 minutes and it was in the green the whole time. Latency hovers around 100 micro-seconds with an absolute max of 212 micro-seconds. Heard about seven small pops in that time.

The two updates available from NI are: Komplete Audio 6 driver 4.2.0 - windows 7 and above 25MB Device Updater 1.2.0 - Windows 5.8MB The device updater readme states that 'Important note: On Microsoft Windows(R) systems, at least driver version 3.0.3 must be installed before updating the firmware provided with this version of DeviceUpdater.' DRIVER 4.2.0 MUST ME INSTALLED FIRST. During install 'Please make sure that the komplete Audio 6 hardware is not connected during this installation' I unplug the device when prompted, and continue install. I get the install successful notice. After install KA6 control panel states 'no komplete audio 6 found.
Can you also try plugging your laptop in to the power brick when you try it (maybe some kind of power management system that sets USB to low-power mode when running on battery?) I'm going to keep thinking about this and let you know if I can think about something else you could try. Mate, again thank you for your assistance here. I am now thinking that this has to be a problem with the device despite the green light being lit on the device when I plug into my laptop.

UTILIZATION I have never had any issues with Komplete Audio 6. The product was easy to register, easy to install, and has worked flawlessly since purchasing. GETTING STARTED The installation was swift, and the process of registering with Native Instruments was equally simple. Driver installation was easy, and the soundcard installed sounds GREAT.

Though still primarily focused on software, Native Instruments currently sell a number of keyboards in addition to the interface that we’ve been testing here over the past week.
I get the install successful notice. After install KA6 control panel states 'no komplete audio 6 found. Please make sure that the interface is plugged in.' Windows states 'the peripheral does not appear to be plugged in' I unplug the device, and restart, plug back in, and still get same notice.
