What are Otome Games? 'Otome' means maiden in Japanese. So basically, Otome games are visual novels that mainly targets the female audience (otome gēmu means Maiden Game). It's pretty much a graphic novel in digital form. They invite the reader to enjoy a story that usually consist of a series of choices throughout the game. The choices you make change the direction in which the game is going while you are romancing handsome men. Here we discuss our favorites and least favorites, suggest other games for our fellow maidens and even help each other out when we get stuck on a certain route.

And boy, once you get into it, an entire world of shameless pickup lines and unlockable sexy outfits is yours to discover. The dialogue is written and presented in such a slyly tongue-in-cheek way, you can enjoy the gameplay, the girls, and the 'plot' while still laughing good-naturedly at yourself and your bumbling character all the way through. This is a good-natured, fun, and incredibly westernized parody of the entire genre, and it's surprising how enjoyable it can actually be. (Plus, who can say no to match 3 games?
My review is this: it’s a tear-jerker game. If you like games where you have to reach for tissue quite often, or where you don’t mind seeing the main character experiencing tragedy and misfortunes, then this is the game for you. Let me put it this way; the game opened by showing how much the main character and her older step-brother cherished each other, how much they cared for each other and finished off the prologue with the brother dying off an incurable disease. Yeah, it’s that kind of game.
Because of its popularity, Hakuoki was adapted into an anime and was remastered countless times. The story revolves around Chizuru Yukimura as she tries to find the whereabouts of her father. Upon arriving in Kyoto, she is attacked by a group of savage men after witnessing their wild rampage in the quiet night. Fortunately for Chizuru, the Shinsengumi save her life, but she’s not quite lucky enough when they take her to their headquarters for interrogation. Although Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds is very much the same as its other remastered titles when it comes to the overall plot, the game adds new scenarios as well as new characters that you can form a romance with.
